Christus Factus Est Pro Nobis

Here is the great chant “Christus Factus Est Pro Nobis” the gradual for Palm Sunday in the Novus Ordo, and the gradual for Holy Thursday in the Extraordinary form of the Mass. In both traditions, it is the Gradual for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (September 14).

Christus factus est pro nobis obediens
usque ad mortem, mortem autem crucis.
Propter quod et Deus exaltavit illum et dedit illi nomen,
quod est super omne nomen.

Text: Philippians 2: 8-9
Tune:Christus Factus Est Pro Nobis“, Traditional Gregorian Chant.

Here is the English translation from the Roman Missal, 3rd Edition:

Christ became obedient
To the point of death, even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the Name
Which is Above every name.
