Alma Redemptoris Mater

This is the Marian Antiphon for Compline during the seasons of Advent and Christmas. It is used from the First Sunday of Advent until the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary (February 1).

Alma Redemptoris Mater,
Quæ pervia cæli porta manes,
Et Stella Maris,
Sucurre cadenti,
Surgere qui curat populo:

Tu quæ genuisti,
Natura mirante,
Tuum sanctum Genitorem,
Virgo prius ac posterius,
Gabrielis ab ore
Sumens illud Ave,
Peccatorum miserere.

First Sunday of Advent until December 23:
℣ Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariæ.
℟ Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.

From December 24 to February 1:
℣ Post partum, Virgo, inviolata permansisti.
℟ Dei Genitrix, intercede pro nobis.
