Si Vis Patronum Quærere

According to Fr. Caswall, this comes from the Responsory of St. Peter. An indulgence was attached to its recitation by His Holiness, Pope Pius VI in 1781.

Si vis patronum quærere;
Si vis potentem vindicem,
Quid iam moraris! invoca
Apostolorum Principem.

Refrain:
O sancte cæli Claviger!
Tu nos precando subleva;
Tu redde nobis pervia
Aulæ supernæ limina.

Ut ipse multis pœnitens
Culpam rigasti lacrimis,
Sic nostra tolli poscimus
Fïetu perenni crimina.
Refrain.

Sicut fuisti ab Angelo
Tuis solutus vinculis,
Tu nos iniquis exue
Tot implicatos nexibus.
Refrain.

O firma Petra Ecclesiæ,
Columna flecti nescia,
Da robur et constantiam,
Error fidem ne subruat.
Refrain.

Romam tuo qui sanguine
Olim sacrasti, protege;
In teque confidentibus
Præsta salutem sontibus.
Refrain.

Tu rem tuere publicam
Qui te colunt, fidelium,
Ne læsa sit contagiis,
Ne scissa sit discordiis.
Refrain.

Quos hostis antiquus dolos
Instruxit in nos, destrue;
Truces et iras comprime,
Ne clade nostra sæviat.
Refrain.

Contra furentis impetus
In morte vires suffice,
Ut et supremo vincere
Possimus in certamine.
Refrain.

Gloria Patri Domino,
Gloria Unigenito,
Una cum Sancto Spiritu,
In sempiterna sæcula. Amen.
Refrain.

Antiphona. Tu es pastor ovium, princeps Apostolorum; tibi traditæ sunt claves regni cælorum.
℣. Tu es Petrus;
℟. Et super hanc petram ædificabo Ecclesiam meam.

OREMUS.
Apostolicis nos, Domine, quæsumus, beati Petri Apostoli tui attolle præsidiis, ut quanto fragiliores sumus, tanto eius intercessione validioribus auxiliis foveamur; et iugiter apostolica defensione muniti, nec succumbamus vitiis, nec opprimamur adversis; Per Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.
