Iam Solis Excelsum Iubar

This hymn is used for Sext on Sundays and Weekdays throughout the year in the Paris Breviary.

Iam solis excelsum iubar
Toto coruscat lumine;
Sinusque pandens aureos,
Ignita vibrat spicula.

Tu, Christe, qui mundum nova,
Sol verus, accendis face,
Fаc nostra plenam caritas
Crescendo surgat ad diem.

Deo Patri sit gloria,
Eiusque soli Filio,
Sancto simul cum Spiritu,
Nunc, et per omne sæculum. Amen.

Words: Fr. Charles Coffin, 1736.
Tune: Unknown
Meter: 88.88

This is the original text of this hymn from Fr. Coffin’s Hymni Sacri of 1736:

Nunc solis excelsum iubar
Toto coruscans lumine;
Fornacis e vastæ sinu,
Ignita fundit spicula.

Tu, Christe, qui mundum nova,
Sol verus, accendis face,
Fаc nostra plenam caritas
Crescendo surgat ad diem.
