Sudore Sat Tuo Fides

This hymn was used as the hymn for Lauds on the Commemoration of St. Paul (June 30) in the Paris Breviary (1736 Edition).

Sudore sat tuo fides
Crucisque crevit gloria;
Multoque per te fœnore
Impleta Christi Passio.

Per sacra sese iam tuæ
Impressa carni stigmata,
Suoque totum spiritu
In te Magister exprimit.

Sic, Paule, non vivis; loquens
Sed ipse Christus in tuo
Agensque vivit pectore:
Sat ergo, sat terris datum.

Audita quondam tertio
Arcana cælo, nunc tibi
Fruenda se pleno palam
De fonte produnt luminis.

Hinc lacte verbi nos tui
Ciboque faxis crescere;
Christumque tritos, qua doces
Præisque, per calles sequi.

Hoc præstet almo cum Patre
Natoque nobis Spiritus,
Tres, Numen unum; cui decus,
Virtusque sit per sæcula. Amen.

Words: Bishop Guillaume de La Brunetière du Plessis-Gesté, 17th C.
Tune: Unknown.
Meter: 88.88
