Redditum Luci Domino Vocante

This hymn was used as the hymn for Nocturns on the Feast of Sts. Lazarus, Mary and Martha (September 2) in the Paris Breviary (1736 Edition).

Redditum luci, Domino vocante,
Lazarum, turbæ, domitamque mortem
Laudibus festis, modulisque sacri
Dicite cantus.

Ille, qui Christum meruit frequenti
Hospitem gaudens recreare mensa,
Fœtidus clauso, data præda morti,
Conditur antro.

Heu! tua præsens ope si iacenti,
Fata, qui præscis Deus, astitisses!
Viveret, necdum premerentur atra
Lumina nocte.

Iamque mors, vitæ Domino solutam,
Si iubes, reddet spoliata prædam;
Nunc et extinctus superas amicus
Surget ad auras.

Ecce dilecti lacrimis honoras
Hospitis funus, fremituque prodis
Quam pio plangas, Pater, impiorum
Corde ruinam.

Ut Patrem semper pia Spiritumque
Omne plebs tecum celebret per ævum,
Christe, credentes animas secundæ
Eripe morti. Amen.
