Praise The Lord, His Glories Show

This hymn is a metrical version of Psalm 150.

This is the original text of this hymn as it appears in The Spirit of the Psalms, 4th edition corrected and enlarged (1836). It is the first version of Psalm 150 in that hymnal:

Praise the Lord, His glories show,
Saints within His courts below,
Angels round His throne above;
Praise Him all that share His love.
Earth, to heaven exalt the strain,
Send it, heaven, to earth again;
Age to age, and shore to shore,
Praise Him, praise Him, evermore!

Praise the Lord; His goodness trace!
All the wonders of His grace;
All that He hath home and done,
All He sends us through His Son.
Strings and voices, hands and hearts,
In the concert bear your parts.
All that breathe, your Lord adore;
Praise Him, praise Him, evermore!

Words: Henry Francis Lyte, 1834.
Tune: “Llanfair” Robert Williams, 1817.
Alternate Tune:Gwalchmai” Joseph D. Jones, 1868.
Tune (Church Hymns): “Coburg” Prince Albert, 1819-1861.
Meter: 7.7.7.7.D.

This is the text of this hymn as it appears in Church Hymns (1871) where it is listed under General Hymns:

Praise the Lord, His glories show,
Saints within His courts below,
Angels round His throne above,
All that see and share His love.
Earth to heaven, and heaven to earth,
Tell His wonders, sing His worth;
Age to age, and shore to shore,
Praise Him, praise Him, evermore!

Praise the Lord, His mercies trace;
Praise His providence and grace,
All that He for man hath done,
All He sends us through His Son:
Strings and voices, hands and hearts,
In the concert bear your parts;
All that breathe, your Lord adore;
Praise Him, Praise Him, evermore! Amen.
